An evening spent watching the darts at home with your family should not result in your fashion choices being called into question on national television, but that’s exactly what happened to Wexford’s Richie Lawlor when he tuned in to watch teenage sensation Luke Littler in action on Monday evening.

Although he was aware that a friend of his with a penchant for practical jokes was attending the World Darts Championships in Alexandra Palace in London, Richie could never have imagined that his name would be beamed out to millions of viewers not once, not twice, but five times over the course of the night’s entertainment.

And accompanying his name was a less than flattering reference to Richie’s hairstyle.

Brandishing a sign which read “Richie Lawlor your hair’s out of date, up Wexford”, Barry Sinnott managed to get as close to the cameras as possible on several occasions, ensuring…
