Two pedestrians killed after separate road traffic incidents in Carlow and Meath
A man in his 60s has died after being struck by a car in Navan, Co Meath.
The incident occurred at Flowerhill at approximately 10.40pm last night.
His body has been removed from the scene and taken to the Mortuary in Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan, where a post-mortem will take place in due course.
He is the fourth pedestrian who has been killed on Irish roads in three days.
The driver of the car, a man also aged in his 60s, was uninjured.
The road at Flowerhill is currently closed and local diversions are in place.
A Garda technical examination of the scene by Garda forensic collision investigators will take place this morning.
Meanwhile, a woman aged in her 70s died after being struck by a car in Co Carlow yesterday.
The incident occurred on the N80 in the townland of Rathcrogue at about 6.30pm.
Her body has been removed from the scene and has been taken to the Mortuary in Waterford Regional Hospital.
