Police in Gran Canaria have launched a major search for a missing Irish woman who vanished two days ago.
Detectives have taken the unusual step of naming her as they ramp up their operation to find Nicole Claire Ryan after making an “urgent” appeal for information on her whereabouts.
The search for the missing 46-year-old is focusing on the popular Puerto Rico tourist area in the south of Gran Canaria.
Overnight the Civil Guard released a photo of Nicole and a description of the clothes she was wearing.
This morning a spokesman for the force confirmed her nationality as Irish. It was not immediately clear if she was holidaying on the island or lives there.
The Civil Guard force, revealing Nicole’s family had reported her missing, said: “The Civil Guard has launched a coordinated operation to search for and locate a person reported as missing in the area of Puerto Rico.
