A woman in her 50s has died following a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the N25 in Co Wexford on Sunday.

The incident took place on the N25 at Stokestown in Co Wexford around 7.10pm on Sunday evening. The woman, the pedestrian involved in the incident, was fatally injured. No other injuries were reported.

The local coroner has been notified and arrangements will be made for a postmortem.

The N25 Eastbound road remains closed this morning and local diversions are in place through New Ross town. Garda forensic collision investigators are due to carry out a technical examination.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
