Gardaí hospitalised after assault by ex-MMA fighter at M50 crash

An investigation is underway into the incident which happened near Finglas shortly before 10am on Thursday morning.

The Garda Representative Association (GRA) has said that the shocking incident is “yet another to add to a lengthening list of attacks” on gardaí carrying out their duty.

The two gardaí were on patrol yesterday when they responded to a single vehicle collision on the M50 at Finglas.

Garda Mark Ferris, the GRA delegate for the west Dublin division, said that on arrival they came across a “highly-agitated man in the midst of heavy motorway traffic”.

He added that gardaí had to make efforts to prevent the driver from running into oncoming traffic.
