Arrest expected after fatal stabbing of eight-year-old girl in Wexford
Gardaí investigating an incident in which an eight-year-old girl died after she suffered stab wounds at her home in Co Wexford are expected to make an arrest later on Tuesday.
The young girl has been named locally as Malikika Al Katib.
She was at home with her mother when the incident happened on Sunday night.
It is understood that the schoolgirl had attempted to intervene when her mother was attacked by a man known to them.

She was taken to University Hospital Waterford but died from her injuries in the early hours of Monday.
Her mother and the man, both in their 30s, were also receiving treatment at University Hospital Wexford.
The man is expected to be released from hospital care later on Tuesday.
A senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the inquiry and an incident room has been set up at New Ross Garda Station.
