A girl has died following a fatal assault at a house in New Ross, Co Wexford on Sunday night.
The girl is understood to be eight years old.
A man and a woman, both aged in their thirties, were hospitalised with non life-threatening injuries.
Gardaí are now investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the death of the young girl.
Emergency services attended the scene at approximately 11.45pm.
The girl was rushed to University Hospital Waterford for treatment but sadly passed away from her injuries in the early hours of this morning.
The man and woman are now receiving treatment in Wexford hospital.
The scene remains preserved for forensic examination.
