Fianna Fáil councillor objected to plans for houses that would block sunlight into his conservatory
Councillor Fergus Kilcoyne raised concerns about a planning application nearby his house, saying as two of the proposed four homes would “cause overshadowing and present a domineering and hostile vista”.
He said two of the proposed houses would mean “significant erosion of our privacy” in his family home of 25 years, in a submission dated July 22, 2024, to Limerick City and County Council.
Mr Kilcoyne told the Irish Independent the proposed homes would be blocking sunlight coming into his conservatory.
“The basis of that letter was, it’s blocking the sunlight going into my conservatory, I wasn’t against the housing, I’ve no problem with housing. If they put a pitched roof on it, it would let more sunlight in,” he said.
