Fine Gael confirms it expelled Cllr Patsy O’Brien after finding he sent pornographic material to female Oireachtas staff member
Mr O’Brien was suspended from Fine Gael in March 2020 after Fine Gael received a complaint about unsolicited material he was sending the staff member.
He was expelled in October of the same year, following an internal Fine Gael committee found he was in breach of the party’s code of conduct.
After several requests for comment from the Irish Independent, Fine Gael issued a statement detailing how they handled the issues related to Mr O’Brien who is running as an independent election candidate in Mayo.
But Fine Gael has not answered any questions related to Government Chief Whip Hildegarde Naughton allegedly campaigning with Mr O’Brien, despite knowing about the messages he sent the Oireachtas staff member.
