‘Greens with 12 TDs have been able to deliver more than Labour did with 37’ – Roderic O’Gorman says his party ‘know how to fight our corner’
Mr O’Gorman said Labour now lacked experience and had achieved little that was positive during its disastrous last term in office, that resulted in the party being decimated in the 2016 election.
Amid increasing signs that Simon Harris and Micheál Martin want to replace the Greens with Labour as ‘mudguard’ on the next Government, Mr O’Gorman said this was because of their “resentment” that the Greens were such tough partners.
“We have the track record of delivery over the last four and a half years. And I’d argue that the Green Party, with 12 TDs have been able to deliver more in that time than the Labour Party did with 37 TDs,” Mr O’Gorman said.
He said there was a contrast in know-how compared with the party now led by Ivana Bacik, which now has no front benchers with full Cabinet experience.
“We’ve got that experience,” Mr O’Gorman said, drawing the distinction….
