Tánaiste Micheál Martin said he “was a bit of a square” when asked if he ever smoked cannabis while studying to become a teacher in college.

The Fianna Fáil leader was speaking about the potential of decriminalising drugs in Ireland, reiterating that the party supports the decriminalising of drug possession for personal use, as outlined in its election manifesto.

Mr Martin was speaking with Ireland Editor of the Irish Independent Fionnán Sheahan and Political Editor, Philip Ryan, on the Indo Daily podcast.
