Road users are being advised to adopt vigilance this morning after a Status Yellow fog warning was issued for 23 counties.

Met Éireann’s Status Yellow fog warning remains in place for 23 counties this morning.

The national forecaster warned of poor visibility and hazardous travelling conditions due to “widespread mist and fog”.

The counties affected are Cavan, Monaghan, Galway, Leitrim, Roscommon and all counties of Leinster and Munster.

The warning is valid until 10am today after coming into effect at 6pm yesterday.

However, the fog will clear through this morning and early afternoon while the sky will become increasingly cloudy from the north.

Parts of the north and west will see drizzle, mist and hill fog while further south might enjoy sunny spells.

Temperatures will range between 9C and 13C today before dropping to between 5C and 10C overnight. Tonight will bring cloudy conditions, with patches of mist and drizzle possible.
