Army bomb disposal experts were called to a home in Finglas last night after a device was found shortly before 10.30pm.

A spokesperson confirmed that gardaí were alerted to an incident at Hampton Wood Drive in Finglas, Dublin 11.

“A cordon was established by gardaí, and the Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit attended the scene,” they said.

“A controlled explosion was conducted by the Army EOD at a nearby location. The cordon was subsequently lifted, and the area was declared safe.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”

The housing estate, located near Ikea in Ballymun, saw families, including young children, evacuated, and gardaí temporarily closed the road.
