28 motorists caught speeding so far on 'National Slow Down Day'

Gardaí have so far recorded 28 motorists speeding on ‘National Slow Down Day’.

In the first two hours, gardaí checked the speeds of 15,029 vehicles.

Some of the highest speeds include a motorist driving 113km/h in a 80km/h Zone on the R245 Cashelshanaghan Letterkenny in Donegal.

In Kerry, a driver was recorded going 124km/h in a 100km/h Zone on the N22 Gortatlea in Tralee.

In Waterford, a motorist was recorded driving 69km/h in a 50km/h Zone on the R708 Ballytruckle Green.

Gardaí are appealing to drivers to comply with speed limits in order to reduce the number of speed-related collisions, save lives and reduce injuries on our roads.
