For nearly a decade, too many Democrats have blamed Donald Trump’s popularity on his supporters’ racism, or lack of education, or susceptibility to disinformation. Trumpers were “deplorable,” “garbage,” poor deluded souls captive to a cynical demagogue.

Through those same years, too many Republicans turned away from long-held ideals and principles to follow their rogue, celebrity leader and attack the other half of the country as “socialists” and radicals who want to destroy America and wreck families.
